At IUB, how can I use WorldCat?
WorldCat, OCLC's worldwide union catalog, is the world's most comprehensive bibliographic database, with more than 57 million records from libraries and other institutions around the world. You can use WorldCat to do a comprehensive search of published material, to verify citations, or to identify which libraries own an item.
Access to WorldCat is provided via FirstSearch, which allows you to search by author, title, and subject. After you have connected to WorldCat, click the question mark icon to learn about the many features of FirstSearch.
WorldCat is available to Indiana University Bloomington students, faculty, and staff at any public workstation in any IUB library. If you are connecting from off campus and have not already authenticated to the ADS Domain, you will need to enter your Network ID username and passphrase for remote access via a proxy server.
