ARCHIVED: In Pine, how do I automatically save a copy of messages I send?
Note: Pine is not available on any central UITS systems. UITS does not support the use of Pine at Indiana University.

By default, Pine saves a copy of the messages you send in a
folder named sent-mail. This option is controlled by the
"default-fcc" setting, which has the option of saving copies to a
different folder or not at all. You can check or change the current
setting of "default-fcc" using Pine's configuration utility.
At Pine's Main Menu, press s for Setup, and
then c for Config. Use the arrow keys to
scroll down to the line that starts with "default-fcc". How you
change this setting depends on its current value. Follow the
appropriate instructions below:
- If copies of messages you send are saved in the default folder,
sent-mail, you will see: default-fcc = <No Value Set: using "sent-mail">To change this setting, press
cfor Change, and then enter the name of a folder in which to save copies (or enter""[two double quotes] to turn off saving copies). - If copies of messages you send are being saved to a different
folder, you will see:
default-fcc = folder-name
Above,
folder-nameis the name of the folder where copies are being saved. To change this setting, presscfor Change, and then enter the name of a folder in which to save copies (or enter""[two double quotes] to turn off saving copies). To return to the default setting (saving copies to thesent-mailfolder), pressdto delete the current setting. - If copies of messages you send are not being saved, you will see:
default-fcc = ""
To change this setting, press
cfor Change, and then enter the name of a folder in which to save copies. To return to the default setting (saving copies to thesent-mailfolder), pressdto delete the current setting.
When you are done, press e to exit the Setup
Configuration menu. When prompted, press y
to save your changes.
