For Mac OS X, where can I get up-to-date drivers for my printer?
Mac OS X includes generic drivers for a number of printers as part of the default installation of the operating system. You can also download printer drivers from the Mac OS X downloads page. Click the link for your printer manufacturer, and then find your model.
To find printer drivers or driver updates for Mac OS X, consult the following list:
- Apple
- Brother
- Canon
- Encad/Kodak
- Epson
- Hewlett-Packard
- Lexmark
- Minolta-QMS
- NEC
- Ricoh
- Samsung
- Xanté
- Xerox
If you are using Mac OS X 10.2 or later and find your printer is not supported, consider installing Gimp-Print, which provides an extensive set of third-party drivers written for the CUPS printing system first included in Mac OS X 10.2. To download Gimp-Print or view its documentation, visit the Gimp-Print web site.
