Introduction
The Indiana University Bloomington Libraries offer a wide range of services for both students and faculty conducting library research; see the IUB Libraries' list of All Services.
Students, faculty, and staff at all IU campuses have access to IUCAT (the IU Libraries' catalog) and many other databases in a wide variety of subject areas. People not affiliated with IUB may not have access to all electronic resources in the instructional links listed below.
In addition to the following resources, you can ask for individual help from librarians in person at the library reference desks or remotely via Ask a Librarian.
Help for undergraduates
General resources

- If you have never done library research before, see Tutorials & Guides on basic topics such as database searching, citing electronic sources, and evaluating web resources.
Course-specific resources
- For course-specific (e.g., W131: Elementary Composition) research suggestions, see the Course Guides.
Workshops
- Each fall semester, library staff hold workshops in the Wells Library with topics ranging from research tools to student publishing to copyright. View the schedule of workshops. Check the workshop description to see if advance registration is required.
Help for faculty, instructors, and graduate students
- Browse Instructional Services & Resources.
- The Reference Department offers free classes for faculty and graduate students on how to use online journals and databases and locate subject-specific information. View the schedule of upcoming classes; you can also sign up at this page.
- If your students need research assistance, see Reference Services. The reference department offers instructional resources, sessions, and assignment assistance.
