In Emacs, how do I edit a file with a $ in its name?
In Emacs, you must take care when editing a file with
a $
in its name. When you enter a filename in the minibuffer,
Emacs will attempt to expand a $ followed by a
word as an environment variable. To suppress this behavior, enter
$$ instead.
This information comes from the Emacs FAQ.
At Indiana University, for personal or departmental Linux or Unix systems support, see At IU, how do I get support for Linux or Unix?
