What is Matlab, and where can I access it at IU?
Matlab is a program for doing numerical computation, especially linear algebra. It began as a "MATrix LABoratory" program, intended to provide interactive access to the libraries Linpack and Eispack. It has since grown well beyond these libraries to become a powerful tool for visualization, programming, research, engineering, and communication. For more, see the MATLAB web site.
Matlab is installed on the UITS shared Unix system Quarry, and also on the Windows and Macintosh computers in the Student Technology Centers (STCs) at Indiana University Bloomington.
This software is also available to IU users through IUanyWARE. See Which Stat/Math applications can I access through IUanyWARE?
For more, visit Matlab at the Stat/Math Center's site.
For more about statistical and mathematical software, email the UITS Stat/Math Center, visit the center's web page, or phone 812-855-4724 (IUB) or 317-278-4740 (IUPUI). The center is located in Bloomington at 410 N. Park Avenue, and is open for consultation by appointment Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
TeraGrid users and other science researchers who want to run Matlab can request time on Cornell University's "MATLAB on the TeraGrid" resource, which is allocated and supported exclusively by Cornell's Center for Advanced Computing (CAC). For more, see What is Cornell University's "MATLAB on the TeraGrid" resource, and how can I request access?
