In Windows, how do I add an application to the Start menu?
To add an application to the Start menu, follow the appropriate instructions below.
Note: You may need administrative rights to make such changes.
Windows 7 and Vista
To add an application to the Start Menu in Windows 7 or
Vista, simply drag the application's icon to the Start button.
Windows XP
- Right-click
Startand selectProperties.
- Click the
Start Menutab, and then click the radio button next toClassic Start menu.
- Click
Customize..., and thenAdd....
- Click
Browse...and locate the.exefile of the program you want to add.
- Highlight the program you are going to add and click
OK. ClickNext.
- Highlight the folder in which you want the application to appear,
or click
New Folder..., and then clickNext.
- Select a name for the shortcut, and then click
Finish.
