ARCHIVED: In SPSS for Unix, how do I print an SPSS Graph chart file (.cht)?
To print a chart (.cht) file generated from the SPSS
Graph procedure, you first must access SPSS using an X
Window System interface.
To print once you have created the chart and displayed it on the screen:
- From the
Filemenu, selectPrint.
- From the
Printdialog box, selectSetup.
- In the
Chart Printer Setupdialog box, enter the name of your printer, and then clickContinue.
- In the
Printdialog box, selectRedraw image to printer. If you have several charts to print, selectAll Charts.
- Click
OK.
Alternatively, you can save your graphic as an encapsulated PostScript file (instead of sending it directly to a graphics printer), move to another system or application, and direct it to a PostScript printer. To save the file:
- From the
Filemenu, selectPrint.
- From the
Printdialog box, selectSetup.
- In the
Chart Printer Setupdialog box, selectPostScript Print to file only, and then enter a name and path for the file. Leave the "Printer name" field blank, and then clickContinue.
- Click
OK.
If you are running SPSS from a terminal or in non-interactive or
batch mode, you cannot use the SPSS high-resolution graphing
features, such as GRAPH. In such environments, you should
turn off high-resolution graphics; at the top of your command file,
enter:
This will allow you to use PLOT and other graphing
subcommands (e.g., the /SCATTERPLOT option for
regression). In this mode, generated graphs will be composed of
simple text characters that you can print anywhere.
