In Maple, is there a way to initialize my session automatically?

In Maple, you can initialize your session automatically with an initialization file:

  • On Unix systems, name the file .mapleinit in your home directory.

  • On a Mac, name the file MapleInit in the same folder as the Maple (executable) file.

  • In Windows, name the file maple.ini in either the Maple /lib directory or your working directory.

If you wish to suppress the output to the screen from these commands when Maple starts, place a colon ( : ) instead of a semicolon ( ; ) at the end of each line.

To load a package, such as linalg, simply putting the command with(linalg): in the Maple initialization file may give the following error messages:

WARNING could not find system initialization file

WARNING cannot find plots/init in library

To prevent this, you must add the following line to the initialization file before issuing the with command:

`linalg/init`:=proc() NULL end:

To load the Fourier routine and the plots package, your Maple initialization file will look something like this:

readlib(fourier): `plots/init`:=proc() NULL end: with(plots):
