For Mac OS X, where can I obtain updates and new releases?

To find updates and new releases for Mac OS X, try any of the following options:

  • With Software Update, you can download and install updates, though not full releases, of the operating system; see For Mac OS X, how do I obtain and install system software updates?

  • To purchase and download the full version of Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), open the Mac App Store, available in Mac OS X 10.6.6 and later. You may access it from the Apple menu.

  • At IU Bloomington, the Computer Connection in IMU M074 sells the OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive.

  • To order Apple merchandise, including the OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive, visit the Apple Store or call 800-MY-APPLE. For information about upgrades, call 800-785-9445.

  • Purchasing agents in IU departments may buy Lion licenses in bulk from EPIC.

  • You can consult various catalogs; for more, see Yahoo!'s Macintosh Computer Retailers page.
