ARCHIVED: In Internet Explorer, can I use FTP to upload and download files to a server that requires a password?

Due to security concerns, UITS does not recommend using Internet Explorer to make FTP connections. For more information, see Internet Explorer 5.0 FTP Information.

See also article 135975 at the Microsoft Help and Support web site, which notes that using Internet Explorer to connect via FTP to a server that requires a password is not a secure connection method.
