In Firefox, how do I turn Java and JavaScript off or on?

On March 1, 2008, AOL ended official development of and support for Netscape software. If you use Netscape, consider using Internet Explorer or switching to Mozilla programs such as Firefox, Thunderbird, or SeaMonkey. UITS no longer supports any version of Netscape.

To enable or disable Java and JavaScript in Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open the Options or Preferences window:

    • In Firefox for Windows, from the Tools menu, select Options... .
    • In Firefox for Mac OS X, from the Firefox menu, select Preferences... .

  2. In Firefox 1.5 or later, click Content; in Firefox 1.0, in the list on the left, select Web Features.

  3. Check (to enable) or uncheck (to disable) the boxes next to Enable JavaScript and Enable Java.
