ARCHIVED: If I'm an IUPUI student, how do I get my first computing accounts?
In order to get computer accounts at IUPUI, you must be a student, or a faculty or staff member. If you are a faculty or staff member, for information about getting your first computing accounts, see the Knowledge Base document How do I get my first computing accounts at IU? For a complete description of available accounts at IUPUI, see the Knowledge Base document What computing accounts are available at IU?.
New IUPUI students who attend orientation receive their computing accounts at that time. However, if you did not attend orientation, you can create your accounts using the Account Management Service (AMS). To do so, visit:
http://itaccounts.iu.edu/You can access the AMS from any computer with an Internet connection.
Note: For the AMS, use a web browser capable of making a secure connection (one that supports SSL), such the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari, and be sure you are able to accept cookies.
On campus, you can access the AMS in any Windows (not Mac OS X) Student Technology Center (STC) or Residential Technology Center (RTC); for instructions, see the Knowledge Base document At IUB or IUPUI, if I don't have a Network ID, how do I use a kiosk to create my initial computing accounts? For information about using the AMS, see the Knowledge Base document How do I get my first computing accounts at IU?
Allow 10 to 15 minutes to go through the process of creating your accounts. Your AMS session will time out if you leave it inactive for more than 5 consecutive minutes during the account creation process, and you will have to start over.
If the account creation process doesn't work for you, or you encounter problems with the AMS, be sure to write down the full text of any error messages, and contact one of the UITS Support Center locations. For information about the UITS Support Center, see the Knowledge Base document ARCHIVED: What are the hours and options for help at the UITS Support Center?
Note: For information about managing departmental, student organization, or other nonprimary accounts (i.e., group accounts for which you are the owner) using the Account Management Service (AMS), see Managing your IU group or departmental accounts.
