ARCHIVED: In Mac OS, what are pop-up or tabbed windows?
Note: The information in this document does not apply to Mac OS X.
Introduced in the Finder in Mac OS 8, pop-up windows allow you to reduce desktop clutter. When you drag an open Finder window to the bottom of the screen, it will transform into a tab labelled with that window's name.
To turn a window into a pop-up window, from the View menu,
select as Pop-up Window. By clicking the tab, you can see
the contents of the window. To turn it back into a regular window,
drag the tab from the bottom of the screen.
Note: To use pop-up windows, you cannot be using the Simple Finder.
