ARCHIVED: For Mac OS, what is ZTerm and where can I get it?

Note: The software discussed here is no longer in common use at Indiana University, and UITS may no longer be able to verify the document's accuracy. The UITS Support Center may no longer have the manuals and other materials required to support this software adequately.

ZTerm is a shareware terminal emulation program for Mac OS. You can use it to make asynchronous modem connections to terminal servers and BBSes, and it can emulate VT100, VT220, and PC ANSI-BBS devices. Unlike PPP or SLIP dialers, ZTerm does not require a high-speed modem and it works on any computer running Mac OS 6 or higher. It provides excellent support for a number of transfer protocols, including ZModem (from which ZTerm derived its name), XModem, YModem, and Kermit. You can obtain it from nearly all Mac OS software archives; see For Mac OS X, where can I download freeware, shareware, commercial software, and software updates?

A beta version of ZTerm has also been made available for Mac OS X.
