Why won't Mathematica accept capitalized characters on Unix systems?

If Mathematica won't accept capitalized characters in Unix, make sure that your Num Lock key is not turned on. If it is, Mathematica will not function on the extended keypad in some varieties of Unix. If you still have trouble attempting to enter a capital letter, click Help, and then Why the Beep. Send the result to  statmath@iu.edu .
