When using the report command in SPSS, how do I prevent SPSS from truncating my variables in the output?
If SPSS truncates your variables in the output when you use the
report command, you probably also used the
/FORMAT=AUTOMATIC subcommand. In this case, SPSS
automatically guesses what the length is; sometimes, its guess is wrong
and your output becomes unreadable.
The best solution is to remove the /FORMAT=AUTOMATIC
statement, thus setting the format to the default condition of
/FORMAT=MANUAL. SPSS will then stop trying to minimize
space by truncating the string variables.
