Introduction
The names and information of people associated with Indiana University are provided by different university groups, and maintained and cross-checked by different UITS systems. Therefore, the specific instructions for changing or removing your information in the IU Address Book (and the Exchange Global Address List [GAL], which is fed by the same data), can vary, based on what you want to change. Additionally, certain fields in the online IU Address Book are controlled by particular offices within the university, and only those offices can change them.
Update information in OneStart (students only)
If you are a student, you can update your address or phone number using Self-Service in OneStart. For more information, see the Knowledge Base document At IU, how can students or applicants review or change personal information?
Contact the information provider
If you want to make changes not available through OneStart, you will have to contact the information provider:
- If you are a student, you should contact the Office of the
Registrar on your campus. For more information, see the Knowledge Base
document How do I contact the Office of the Registrar at each IU campus?
- If you are a non-academic employee, you should work with your
departmental human resources representative or contact the human
resources office on your campus. For more information, see the
Knowledge Base document How do I contact the human resources office at each IU campus?
- If you are an academic appointee, you should contact the Dean of Faculties or the academic affairs office on your campus. For more information, see the Knowledge Base document How do I contact the Office of Academic Affairs at each IU campus?
Additionally, if you are an employee, whenever you change personal data through your information provider, you should fill out and submit the correct Human Resources form. Follow the directions below:
- Go to OneStart at: https://onestart.iu.edu/
- Click the
HRMStab. If you do not see this tab, selectAll Rolesin the "select your role:" drop-down menu.
- In the
HRMStab, under "Links", clickPersonal Profile Forms.
- Click
Change Form, Personal Data. This will open the form as a PDF file.
- Print the form, fill it out, and submit it to your information provider.
There is sometimes a delay between the time you submit the new information to your information provider and the time it appears in the IU Address Book. This is a result of the normal process of information going through proper channels. In general, you should see the updated information within a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of a week.
Departmental and organizational accounts
To change the display information for your departmental or organizational account, which will have no entry in the IU Address Book, contact account administration at the following addresses:
- At IU Bloomington, IU East, IU Northwest, and IU South Bend,
email
valid@indiana.edu. - At IUPUI, IUPU Columbus, IU Kokomo, and IU Southeast, email
actadmin@iupui.edu.
Note: The UITS services in this document may not be available to users on the Fort Wayne campus. Many computing services at IPFW are administered locally, by IPFW Information Technology Services (ITS). For more information, see the ITS web site.
If you want to remove your Address Book entry
If you would like to remove your entry from the IU Address Book, see the Knowledge Base document At IU, how can my information be removed from the IU Address Book?
