How can I search the Knowledge Base for C, R, or X?
Although most single characters are ignored in Knowledge Base
searches, you can still search on C ,
R , or X . Because
these are common computing terms at Indiana University, the Knowledge
Base staff customized the Knowledge Base search engine to allow these
searches; you can search on C ,
R , or X as though
they were normal words. In general, if you're having trouble
searching on any of these, try surrounding your search term with
spaces within double quotes, for example:
This prevents matching to Ctrl-C and
C:\>, which would happen if you simply searched on
C , since the Knowledge Base ignores most
punctuation and treats these examples as though they contained
C by itself. The spaces force the Knowledge
Base to count only the searches where C is
truly surrounded by spaces, as a free-standing word in the middle of a
sentence.
Note: Case is relevant for double quoted search
terms, and thus you must capitalize the C in
these examples.
