ARCHIVED: On a Macintosh, how do I start up on the network with a floppy disk?
Note: The software discussed here is no longer in common use at IU, and UITS may no longer be able to verify this text's accuracy; additionally, the UITS Support Center may no longer have the materials needed to adequately support this software.
With a Network Access floppy disk, you may access an AppleTalk network. Download the disk image from Apple: http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-North_American/Macintosh/Utilities/Network_Access_Disk_7.5.sea.bin This disk works only with computers introduced before November 1994. For newer computers, there isn't enough room on a floppy disk to fit the software required. However, the system installation CDs for Mac OS 8.0 and higher do allow network access.
Note: AppleTalk and IPX routing are no longer available on the Indiana University network.
