ARCHIVED: In F-Secure SSH, how do I change the window or font size?
Note: At Indiana University, UITS no longer supports F-Secure SSH, and no longer offers it for download. For a list of SSH clients supported by UITS, see the Knowledge Base document At IU, what SSH/SFTP clients are supported and where can I get them?
If you want to change both the font and window sizes in F-Secure SSH, you should change the font size first. To do so, follow these steps:
Changing the font
- Open an SSH window and log into a host.
- From the
Editmenu, selectProperties(selectConnection Properties...in Mac OS), then choose theFonttab.
- In Windows, choose the
Fixedsysfont (this one seems to be the most visible, but you can try other fonts as well).Monacoworks well in Mac OS.
- Depending on your screen resolution, select a point size. In
1024x768 resolution, 10 point font size is good; in 640x480
resolution, 8 or 9 point font size works best.
- Change the colors if you like, then click
OKwhen you are satisfied with all your changes.
Changing the window size
- In Windows, click and drag any of the corners and make the window
larger. In Mac OS, resize by clicking and dragging the bottom right
corner. In Windows, on the right side of the status bar (or in Mac
OS, in the bottom right corner of the screen) you will see the
dimensions of the window in terms of characters. As you increase the
window size vertically and horizontally, these numbers will
change. Most people will want at least 80x24 (i.e., 80 columns by 24
rows).
- You should make one more change to the settings. From the
Editmenu, selectProperties(selectConnection Properties...in Mac OS), thenKeyboard. Check the box forBackspace sends Delete. Otherwise, the backspace won't work properly with editors like Emacs and Pico, and on command lines in Unix shells.
- Once you have the font and window size to your liking, from the
Filemenu, selectSave(selectSave Settings...in Mac OS). This will store the settings and you will get the same size window and font the next time you use SSH.
