In Windows, how do I keep My Computer from opening a new window for each folder opened?

To keep My Computer from opening a new window for each folder you open:

  1. From the Start menu, select either Control Panel, or Settings and then Control Panel.

In Windows 7, if you are in Category view, select either Small icons or Large icons from the drop-down menu.

    Double-click Folder Options.

Note: If this doesn't match what you see, refer to About navigation settings in Windows.

  2. Select General. Under "Browse Folders", deselect Open each folder in its own window.

  3. Click OK.
