What is IUware?
IUware is a software distribution service for Indiana University students, faculty, and staff. IUware offers software for reading email and web browsing, as well as programs such as antivirus and office applications. The university has already paid for the relevant licenses through its many agreements with vendors, and thus students, faculty, and staff may use the programs available through IUware for free.IUware is available via the web using IUware Online and also on CD. You can access IUware Online at:

IUware Online
IUware Online is the web-based software distribution service offered exclusively to Indiana University students, faculty, and staff. IUware Online provides a wide variety of software packages at no charge, including site-licensed products from Microsoft, Symantec, ISI ResearchSoft, and others. In addition, the IUware Online server is regularly updated, and thus patches and upgrades for IU-supported software are consistently available.IUware Online allows you to download, install, or in some cases execute IUware software. To download programs from IUware Online, you must have a valid Network ID and a compatible web browser.
Note: If you connect to IUware using a modem connection, you will be restricted in the software that you can download due to the lower bandwidth available over modem lines.
The IUware CD
The IUware CD contains a subset of the programs available through IUware, with a focus on those programs that will be most helpful to those connecting to IU from home. The CD includes antivirus software and updates, and is available for $5 at every IU campus bookstore.Note: The IUware CD does not contain the software available through the IU-Microsoft licensing agreement.

More information
- You do not technically own IUware software loaded onto your
computer; however, as long as you are a student, faculty member, or
staff member at IU, you are entitled to use the software, subject to
the terms and conditions specified by IU and the publishers of the
software. If you leave IU, you must remove any IUware software that
you have installed on your computer, though students may retain
software made available through the IU-Microsoft agreement.
- Each IUware CD expires after one year. If you have software from
an obsolete version of the IUware CD on your computer, you do not have
to uninstall it unless IU's agreement with the software vendor has
expired.
- If you download Microsoft software from IUware Online, there is no
expiration date.
- The software distributed through IUware changes from semester to semester. Due to software upgrades and changes in IU's licensing agreements with software vendors, it is possible that IU will no longer support software from older versions of the IUware CD. For current licensing information, see: http://iuware.iu.edu/license/
