ARCHIVED: Can I get an IU email address for my family members?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

In order to have an Indiana University email address and Network ID, you must be a student, faculty member, or staff member at IU. Therefore, as a rule, being a family member of a student, faculty member, or staff member does not entitle a person to the use of IU computing resources.

An exception to this may arise if a person is involved in some university-sanctioned activity that supports the university mission. In such a case, the person may be eligible for a sponsored IU Affiliate account. This account grants temporary access to IU computing resources. For more, see Sponsor a computing account for an IU affiliate. For any other exceptions, see the policy of the University Information Policy Office (UIPO) on Eligibility to Use Information Technology Resources (IT-03).
