After copying a Ghost image to a different PC, why do I get IP conflicts even though I am using DHCP?

After copying a Ghost image onto a PC, sometimes Windows will report IP conflict errors. These can occur even when the PC is set up with DHCP, since the Ghost image attempts to carry over the IP lease from the computer on which it was originally made. Releasing and renewing the lease will resolve the problem.

To release and renew the IP lease, see In Windows, how do I release and renew my IP address?
