In Mac OS X, how do I run .exe files?

On occasion, when you encounter an .exe file while using Mac OS X, the file is a self-extracting archive that you can open with StuffIt Expander. More often, however, the .exe filename extension indicates an "executable" file for Windows. You can run Windows on a Mac via Boot Camp or a virtual machine. For more information, see How do I run Windows or Windows programs on my Mac?
