At IU, how can I make personal long distance telephone calls?

Indiana University has partnered with MobileSphere to provide competitive residential long distance and international calling. MobileSphere's service enables students, faculty, and staff to place personal, low-cost, prepaid domestic and international long distance calls from home, campus housing, an office, a cell phone, or any off-campus phone throughout the continental United States. Learn more about MobileSphere's Utalk service and sign up for immediate account activation.

MobileSphere allows you to register the phones you will use to make long distance calls. If you register your phone, you won't need a personal identification number (PIN). Using a registered phone and speed dialing, you can make calls dialing only six to eight digits. (UITS suggests that if you share campus housing with a roommate, you do not register your residence hall or apartment phone, but use a PIN. This will prevent unauthorized use of your long distance service by your roommate.)

MobileSphere's CellularLD feature allows seamless international calling from any cell phone at significantly reduced rates, and also provides convenient, easy-to-use wireless long distance for domestic calling. Wireless users can place calls from an existing cell phone, using a current plan, for a fraction of the cost, and without the need for prepaid calling cards.

Note: Students, faculty, and staff may also take advantage of special pricing for AT&T personal cellular service; for information, see Details about IU's agreement with AT&T for personal discounted rates.

You can also use prepaid calling cards to make long distance calls at IU.
