At IU, why can't I connect to the Data Warehouse?

At Indiana University, if you are unable to connect to the Data Warehouse (also known as IEDSS and DSS1PRD), but your Oracle login previously worked, try the following:

  • Double-check your login and password. Make sure you are entering them in the correct case and without any leading or following spaces.

  • If you are connecting with a desktop database application (e.g., Access), close it completely, open it again, and try accessing a table again. You do not have to reboot your computer.

  • Reset your password; see In the IUIE, how do I change my DSS1PRD password?

  • If you still can't connect, call the UITS Support Center at 812-855-6789, option 4, and tell the consultants that you can't connect to the IU Data Warehouse. Let them know which specific server you are attempting to log into. The Support Center consultants will inform the Enterprise Decision Support Services group, who will investigate and get back in touch with you.

You can also verify your connection setup to the Enterprise Decision Support server. For instructions, see the "IU Data Warehouse configuration information" section of At IU, how do I install the Oracle 10g client?
