ARCHIVED: In Windows 2000, how do I use the Emergency Repair Disk to fix my registry or system files?

To use an Emergency Repair Disk in Windows 2000, follow these instructions:

  1. Boot your computer from the Windows 2000 CD.

  2. When the Windows Installer displays its opening screen, press  r  to repair your current installation.

  3. The Installer will ask for your Emergency Repair Disk. Once you have inserted the disk, the Installer will prompt you through the repair process.
