In Mac OS or Mac OS X, what should I do if Transmit isn't decoding files I download?
If Transmit isn't decoding the files you download, check the following:
- You may need to install the program that Transmit calls to decode
the files. For BinHex and StuffIt files, this
is normally StuffIt Expander.
- Transmit's preferences may not be set correctly. To fix this in
Transmit 1.x or 2.x, follow the steps below:
- Open Transmit. From the
Transmitmenu ( Mac OS X) orEditmenu (Mac OS 9.x and earlier), selectPreferences.... - In the preferences window that opens, click the
Transferstab. - In Transmit 2.x, check the
Post-process downloadscheckbox and close the preferences window. In Transmit 1.x, check thePost-process files when possiblecheckbox, and then click theSavebutton.
- Open Transmit. From the
- If you are using Mac OS 9.x or earlier, your Internet
preferences may not be set correctly. Open your
Internetcontrol panel (Mac OS 8.5 and later) or the Internet Config application, and check your settings. If you're not sure how to do this or you can't find anything wrong, follow the steps below:
- Double-click your hard disk's icon, then the
System Foldericon, and finally thePreferencesicon. - Find the
Internet Preferencesfile and drag it to theTrash.
The next time you open the
Internetcontrol panel or Internet Config, a freshInternet Preferencesfile will be created. - Double-click your hard disk's icon, then the
