ARCHIVED: At IU, how can I use my Ethernet card off campus?
Indiana University provides only dial-in connections for off-campus computers. The university does not provide direct network connections. For information, see About the IUB and IUPUI modem pools.
Some Greek houses are connected to the campus network. See ARCHIVED: What is GreekNet, and how can I get my Greek house connected to it? Some apartment complexes may also offer network access via standard Ethernet.
One use for Ethernet cards off campus is to connect multiple computer systems together. Internet access for off-campus computer systems connected by Ethernet requires an outside Internet service provider (ISP).
For service comparable to Ethernet, contact your telephone company and ISP about getting digital subscriber line (DSL) service, or your cable company about using a cable modem.
