At IUB, in the Kelley School of Business, how can I connect my laptop to the Internet?

As a student (graduate or undergraduate), faculty, or staff member in the Kelley School of Business, you have two options for connecting your laptop to the network. Several classrooms are equipped with Ethernet data jacks and power outlets for laptops, and most of the Kelley School of Business is covered by wireless network access points.

Note: If you are accessing the network for the first time, you'll need to register your computer; see At IUB, IUPUI, and IUN, how do I register my computer or other networked device?

Ethernet data jacks

To use the Ethernet data jacks in equipped classrooms (e.g., BU 100, BU 102, BU 200, BU 202), you need to register first with a valid Network ID and an Indiana University Bloomington-specific ("IU Wall") Ethernet cable.

Note: The Kelley Graduate School (CG) is wired to use industry-standard Ethernet cables. Any standard, store-bought Ethernet cable will work, but IUB-specific ("IU Wall") cables will not. To exchange an IUB cable for a standard cable, visit the help desk at Technology Services.

Wireless

Students, faculty, and staff at IUB should use the IU Secure network for wireless access. However, keep in mind that Technology Operations and Services (TOS) strongly recommends using a wired connection over a wireless connection, as a wired connection will always have better reliability and throughput. If you're visiting IU, you'll need a full-time faculty or staff member to sponsor a Network Access account for you; see Network Access accounts (guest wireless access) at IUB, IUPUI, IUE, and IUN.

If you have further questions regarding connectivity in the Kelley School of Business, email Kelley Technology Operations and Services, or call the help desk at 812-855-4247 during regular business hours.

Note: For information technology questions, Kelley undergraduates should contact the UITS Support Center. Graduate students, however, should contact Kelley School of Business Technology Operations and Services.
