On Webserve, how much disk storage space is available to me?

There is no absolute limit to the disk storage space for accounts on Webserve (www.indiana.edu, www.iupui.edu, www.iun.edu, and www.iuk.edu) at Indiana University. Accounts for university organizations, departments, and faculty may use an average of 1GB per year for free; auxiliary services are charged $250 per year for a 1GB account. In both cases, additional 1GB blocks are available for $4 each per year. Averages are calculated yearly, and any charges are made to the departmental account number you provided.

For information about the disk use average for your Webserve account, contact the IU Webmaster.

To see how much space your Webserve account is currently using, log into the account. At the prompt, enter:

du -sk

The Disk Usage Summary displays your usage in kilobytes (remember that 1MB=1,000KB and 1GB=1,000MB).

Billing is based on your account's average use of disk space from the beginning of the fiscal year, July 1, through April 15. Any charges incurred will appear on your May Statement of Accounts.

To help you manage your disk space use and plan your budget, you will receive regular email notices if your average usage exceeds the 1GB limit.

For more information on Webserve accounts, see the Webmaster's Web Accounts on Webserve page.
