Using Outlook Web App, how do I empty my Deleted Items folder?
Note: OWA now has the same functionality across major
browsers in most cases; see In Outlook Web App (OWA), what are the "Premium" and "Light" interfaces? For more information on
using OWA, with your Inbox displayed, click ? (the question
mark) at the top right.
When using Outlook Web App (OWA) to check your mail, you
may need to empty your Deleted Items folder to free up
disk space on the server. If you can't get to the computer where you
normally use Outlook, log into OWA and follow the
appropriate steps for your browser:
Using a browser that supports OWA 2010 premium
- Locate the
Deleted Itemsicon in the folder list on the left. This icon resembles theRecycle Binon a Windows desktop.
- Right-click the icon and select
Empty Deleted Items.
- OWA will prompt you, "Are you sure that you want to permanently
delete all the items and subfolders in the Deleted Items Folder?"
Click
OK.
Using a browser that does not support OWA 2010 Premium
- Open the
Deleted Itemsfolder.
- Click the
Empty Deleted Items Foldericon. This icon looks like theRecycle Binon a Windows desktop and is located near the top of your Inbox window, between the "Junk" and "Mark as Read" icons.
- OWA will prompt you, "Are you sure that you want to permanently
delete all the items and subfolders in the Deleted Items Folder?"
Click
OK.
To recover deleted messages, see In Outlook for Windows, how can I recover deleted items if I am an IU Exchange user?
