ARCHIVED: In Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, or Entourage, how do I display and send the full headers of an email message?
To mail the full headers of an email message you have received, first display the headers, and then insert them into the body of an email message.
Displaying full headers
- In Outlook Express, Windows Mail, or Windows Live Mail for Windows:
- In the message index, right-click the message, and then select
Properties. - Click the
Detailstab. This will display the full headers of the message.
- In the message index, right-click the message, and then select
- In Entourage for Mac OS X, open the message
in a separate window, and from the
Message(Entourage 2008) orView(earlier versions) menu, selectInternet headers.
- In Outlook 2011 for Mac OS X, from the listing of messages,
right-click or
control-click the message and selectView Source.
- In ThunderBird 3x for Windows or Mac OS X, click
View, then chooseHeaders, thenAll. The full headers will display in the upper part of the message.
Inserting headers into a message
To insert the headers into an email message:
- Click and drag the cursor to select all the header text.
- Press
Ctrl-cin Windows orCommand-cin Mac OS X to copy the headers to the Clipboard.
- Create a new email message, and in its main text window, press
Ctrl-vin Windows orCommand-vin Mac OS X to paste the headers.
