In the IUB and IUPUI STCs and RTCs, how do I log in or out?

Note: Also see information regarding standards and practices governing use of the Student Technology Centers (STCs) at Indiana University Bloomington or IUPUI.

To log into or out of an STC or Residential Technology Center (RTC) computer, follow the appropriate directions below.

Note: For the security of your account, before leaving an STC or RTC, you should always log out of your computer; for more, see Best practices for computer security.

Windows

Logging in

Windows computers in the STCs and RTCs display a login prompt. To log in, you need an ADS domain account, obtained when you run the Starter Kit to create your first IU computing accounts.

To log in, press Ctrl-Alt-Del . In the appropriate fields, enter your Network ID username and ADS password, and then click OK.

Note: Various services use different sources for authentication. Thus, if you have different passphrases for different IUB accounts, you should synchronize your passphrases; for more information, see At IU, how do I change my Network ID passphrase?

Logging out

To log out, press Ctrl-Alt-Del . In the resulting dialog box, click Log Off... . If prompted, click Yes.

Mac

Logging in

When you click the mouse on a Mac OS X STC or RTC, you'll see a login prompt. To log in, you need an IU Network ID and an ADS domain account. To log into the computer:

  1. In the appropriate fields, enter your Network ID.

  2. Click OK. You'll see a screen reminding you to log out; click to continue.

Logging out

To log out, click Macintosh Logout, and then click Logout.
