ARCHIVED: At IU, what was the Common File System (CFS)?

The Common File System (CFS) was a UITS storage service for students, faculty, and staff at Indiana University. CFS was retired on May 15, 2006.

Note: UITS archived all data remaining on CFS. If you were unable to migrate your data and need to retrieve it, follow the instructions at:

The Resources tool in Oncourse CL allows you to store up to 250MB of files online; this is now the primary file storage solution for the university. For more information, see the Knowledge Base document File storage in Oncourse.

A new file storage service for researchers became available in a public test phase late in 2005; for more information, see the Knowledge Base document The Research File System (RFS) at Indiana University
