ARCHIVED: In Symantec Endpoint Protection and SAV/NAV Corporate Edition for Windows, how do I change the settings for dealing with a detected virus?

Symantec Endpoint Protection
To change the response settings in Symantec Endpoint Protection:
- Open Symantec Endpoint, and on the left, click
Change settings.
- Next to "Antivirus and AntiSpyware Protection", click
Configure Settings. This opens a tabbed window displaying the areas you can configure (e.g.,File System Auto-Protection,Internet Email Auto-Protection, andOutlook Auto-Protection).
- Select the appropriate tab, and then click
Actions.
- Click the
Macro VirusandNon-Macro Virusoptions, and in each of the "Action" fields, use the drop-down list to choose an option for responding to a virus. You may do the same for the "If action fails" fields.
- When you're finished, click
OK.
SAV/NAV Corporate Edition
To change the response settings in SAV/NAV:
- From the
Startmenu, selectProgramsorAll Programs, thenSymantec Client SecurityorSymantec/Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition, and thenSymantec AntiVirus ClientorSymantec/Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition.Alternatively, in the notification area of the Taskbar (typically on the lower right of your screen), right-click the
Symantec/Norton AntiVirusicon (a shield) and selectOpen Symantec/Norton AntiVirus.... - In SAV/NAV CE, on the left, click the
+(plus sign) next to theConfigurefolder to expand it.Note: In Windows XP, you will see this option only if you have administrative rights.
The menu will expand to display the areas you can configure (e.g.,
File System Realtime ProtectionandMicrosoft Exchange Realtime Protection). - Select an area to configure, and then click
Actions.
- On both the
Macro VirusandNon-Macro Virustabs, in the "Action" field, use the drop-down list to choose an option for responding to a virus. You may do the same for the "If action fails" fields.
- When you're finished, click
OK.
