For Microsoft Word for Mac OS X, where can I find a thesis or term paper template?
Note: UITS cannot guarantee that the thesis template discussed below will meet Indiana University's requirements for dissertations. It may, however, help you to create a document that you can adapt to meet the requirements.
Several template files available in Microsoft Office v.X, 2004, and 2008 for Mac OS X assist in setting up common projects. Among these templates are two that will help you create a term paper or thesis using Microsoft Word.
Term paper
In Office v.X, 2004, and 2008, you can use a term paper template that
is installed during a base installation. To access this template,
launch Word v.X, 2004, or 2008. When the Project Gallery appears,
under the category listing on the left side, click the triangle to the
left of Writing Toolbox. Next, click Reports, and in
the panel to the right, click the Term Paper icon. Click
OK. This will open the document in Word. Now you can replace
the default text with your own term paper text.
Note: If the Project Gallery window does not appear
when you launch Word, you can open it manually by selecting
Project Gallery... from the File menu.
Thesis
A thesis template from Office 98 will work in Office v.X, 2004, and 2008. If you have an Office 98 CD, follow these instructions to install the template from the Value Pack:
- Put the Office CD into the CD drive of your computer.
- Double-click the icon for the CD on your desktop.
- In the window that appears, scroll down until you can see the
Microsoft Office 98folder. Double-click the folder and then double-click theValue Packfolder. Inside this folder, double-click theTemplatesfolder, then theWordfolder, and then theOther Documentsfolder.
- Inside this folder, there is a thesis template. Drag this template
to the
Templatesfolder inside your Microsoft Office folder.
