For Windows, how can I get software updates and patches?
If your computer is running Windows 2000, XP, or Vista, UITS recommends enabling your system to automatically download and install needed updates using one of the following options:
Alternatively, you can download current Windows operating system updates using the Windows Update web site. You must be using Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and, for certain versions of Windows, you must enable administrative rights. If you do not have Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, the Microsoft update site will direct you to where you can download it.
