ARCHIVED: For Windows, how can I get software updates and patches?

UITS recommends enabling your system to automatically download and install needed updates using either the IU Microsoft Update Service or the Windows Automatic Update feature. Alternatively, you can download current Windows operating system updates using the Windows Update web site.
