In Microsoft Outlook, if I've delegated viewing privileges, how do I keep email messages private?
If you've delegated Inbox access to another person in Microsoft Outlook, to send a private message:
- Create a new email message in Outlook.
- In Outlook 2010, click the
Optionstab. In the lower right-hand corner of the "More Options" section, click the arrow. In Outlook 2007, on the Message Ribbon, in the lower right corner of the Options group, click the Options Dialog Box Launcher. This opens the
Message Optionsdialog box.In Outlook 2003, on the toolbar, click
Options. - In the drop-down list under "Sensitivity", select
Private.
Private objects can be seen only by the account owner, not by delegates.
By default, a delegate gets the role of Editor only on calendar and
task folders, and cannot see anything in the Inbox unless (in Outlook
2010 or 2007) Delegate can see my private items is
checked. Also, a delegate who has been given an Owner role can see
private objects such as mail messages, calendar appointments, task
items, or contact items. Because of this, you should not delegate more
permissions than necessary.
