In IU Webmail, how do I recover the text of an email message if an error occurs when I send it?

In IU Webmail, if an error occurs when you're trying to send email, you'll get an error message containing the server transcript, which includes information about why Webmail could not send your message. The message you tried to send is saved as an attachment to this error message. It will not be in your Sent Items folder.

To recover the text of the message you tried to send, click the second attachment, which is usually labeled:

attachment of type message/rfc822

Here's an example error message:

From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <MAILER-DAEMON@indiana.edu> To: <janedoe@indiana.edu> Time: Fri, 13 Nov 2009 10:57:28 -0500 (EST) Subject: Returned mail: see transcript for details ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <=?iso-8859-1?q?hot=5Fmail@hotmail.com?=> (reason: 550 Host unknown) ----- Transcript of session follows ----- 550 5.1.2 <=?iso-8859-1?q?hot=5Fmail@hotmail.com?=>...
