What is an IU username and how do I get one?
A username is the name with which you log into your accounts and access other network services. For current Indiana University students, faculty, and staff, your username is assigned automatically based on your last name, first name, and possibly middle name.
Your IU username is part of your IU Network ID. For more, see What is an IU Network ID?
Your IU username will be the part of your IU email address
before the @ (at symbol), for example,
username@indiana.edu . For more,
see At IU, what is my email address?
As an IU applicant or former student, you will not receive an IU email address, but you can create a new or reinstate an old IU username, which will allow you to check your application status, pay bills, or view your transcript online. For more, see At IU, how do applicants obtain an IU computing account?
Under some circumstances, people not regularly associated with IU may be eligible for Guest accounts. In this case, your username is the email address you gave when signing up for the account. For more, see At IU, what computing accounts are available to people who are not students, faculty, or staff?
