What is Outlook Web Access (OWA)?

If you have an Exchange account at Indiana University, you can use Outlook Web Access (OWA) to access your Exchange mailbox over the Internet using a web browser. OWA provides basic email functionality through a web interface to a secure site, allowing you to read your email from anywhere in the world without having to reconfigure a browser or email client software. OWA is available at:

https://www.exchange.iu.edu/

On the login page, enter your username and Network ID passphrase.

In OWA, you can send and receive messages and attachments, create folders and organize messages within the folders, view calendar appointments and contacts, look up names in the Global Address List (GAL), and set up the Out of Office Assistant.

OWA opens the Inbox folder by default, and you cannot change this. For purposes of security, your session will time out after six hours of inactivity.

Note: Outlook Web Access (OWA) is a secure site with two distinct interfaces, depending on which web browser you use. UITS highly recommends the Premium interface (available through Internet Explorer in Windows) over the Light interface (available through all other browsers or operating systems) for the optimal OWA experience. For more information, see In Outlook Web Access (OWA), what are the "Premium" and "Light" interfaces?

Some features of the Outlook client such as spellchecking and personal distribution lists are available only when using OWA in Internet Explorer. In Internet Explorer, OWA 2007 looks and feels very similar to Outlook 2007.
