In the Microsoft Management Console, how do I add a snap-in?
The Microsoft Management Console (MMC) provides a location for you to use administrative tools called snap-ins. Snap-ins allow you to administer computers, services, system components, and networks. To add a snap-in, follow these steps:
Note: If you're using Windows Vista, see this information from Microsoft.
- Open the MMC. (From the
Startmenu, selectRun.... Then typemmcand clickOK.)
- From the
Filemenu, selectAdd/Remove Snap-in.
- In the
Add/Remove Snap-indialog box, clickAdd.
- In the
Add Standalone Snap-indialog box, click the snap-in you want to add to the console and clickAdd.
- Repeat steps 2 through 4 to add additional snap-ins to a single
console.
- Click
Close, and then clickOKto use the snap-ins that you just added.
