In the STCs, how do I connect my laptop to the IUB network?
The Student Technology Centers (STCs) group work lab in LI 502 (Herman B Wells Library) is currently the only STC location at Indiana University Bloomington that provides data jacks for laptop access to the IUB network. Data jacks are mounted on vertical poles, and power strips are easily accessible if you run low on battery power.
You must have an Ethernet card installed in your computer, and you will need an Ethernet cable that is modified for use on the IUB network. If you live in campus housing and already have IUB network access, you may use the same Ethernet cable that you use in your room or apartment. A limited number of Ethernet cables are also available for check-out at the Wells Library Research Collections (graduate) circulation desk.
If your laptop is already configured to use the data jacks in campus housing or those in the Business/SPEA Library, you do not need to do anything else.
For help configuring your Windows or Mac OS X laptop, see In IUB or IUPUI campus housing, how do I get connected to the network?
If your laptop is not already registered for use on the IUB campus, or if your registration has expired, opening your browser will automatically take you to the registration page. Simply follow the instructions to complete your registration.
For instructions on setting up a wireless connection, see About wireless connections to the Internet at IUB and IUPUI
