ARCHIVED: In Windows 2000, why does my VPN connection to IUB or IUPUI stop responding?
Note: When connecting from off campus, SSL VPN is the replacement for IU's IPsec- and PPTP-based VPN services, and UITS recommends using it now if your campus supports it. PPTP is retired at IU Bloomington and IUPUI, and IPsec VPN service at those campuses will be retired by fall 2010.
Windows 2000 computers may stop responding when connected to the IU Bloomington or IUPUI VPN servers. This behavior has occurred only on computers that have Windows 2000 installed with no service packs. To correct this problem, install the latest Windows 2000 service pack. You can find it on Microsoft's Windows 2000 Downloads page.
Note: Certain Microsoft updates, service packs, and hotfixes are available from IUware. However, Windows Update or Mactopia is the preferred site for such items. You may access Windows Update for Windows at:
http://update.microsoft.com/For Mac OS and OS X, see:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspxNote: If you are a student, faculty member, or staff member at Indiana University Bloomington, IUPUI, or IU East, use the IU Secure network for wireless access. For help, see What is IU Secure? If you are visiting IU, instead see Network Access accounts (guest wireless access) at IUB, IUPUI, and IUE.
