At IU, how do I stream QuickTime files?

To stream QuickTime files at Indiana University, you will need an account on the IU central web server (Webserve) and access to streaming services. For guidelines on central web server accounts, see the IU Webmaster's Web Accounts on Webserve.

Specific information on digital media streaming at IU is available from the IU Webmaster at Digital Media Streaming Service.

Your QuickTime files will need to be hinted. Hinted QuickTime files contain a hint track that tells the streaming server how to deliver the stream. For QuickTime tutorials and information about producing hinted QuickTime files, see Apple's Hint tracks page.

Place your hinted QuickTime files in the wwwdm directory on Webserve. For information about linking to your files, see At IU, how do I create links to my streaming QuickTime movies?
