In Mac OS X, how do I convert a document to PostScript?
Note: The following instructions apply only to Mac OS X 10.1 or later.
You can convert most documents to PostScript through the built-in Mac OS X printing options. Open the document in a Mac OS X-native application that supports the document format that you want to convert to PostScript, then follow these instructions:
- From the
Filemenu, selectPrint....
- On the sheet that drops down or in the
Printwindow that opens, from theCopies & Pagespull-down menu, selectOutput Options(OS X 10.2.x and later). In OS X 10.1.x, from the pull-down menu under "Saved Settings:", selectOutput Options.
Note: In some applications (e.g., Entourage v.X) you may not immediately see the system's print dialog upon selectingPrint.... Instead, the application itself may have some printer preferences for you to set. However, once you have set these, the system's print dialog should appear.
- Select the checkbox next to
Save as File, then from the pull-down menu next to "Format", choosePostScript.
- Click the
Save...button, then in theSave to Filewindow, choose a name and location for the PostScript file. ClickSaveto place the file on your computer.
