In a SAS session from the Unix prompt, what do I do if SAS stops responding?

To avoid having to close your Unix terminal if SAS stops responding, launch SAS with the following options, replacing your_program.seas with your SAS program filename:

sas -noterminal -filelocks none your_program.sas &
